The UT Longhorns posted a pair of 3-1 wins last weekend, over the College of Charleston and Detroit. This weekend they face Sam Houston State, who are 0-4 and lost to both Charleston and Detroit last weekend, at 5pm Friday, and then the 19th-ranked California Bears at 11am on Sunday, Sept. 4. That will be the best team Texas faces at home until the final weekend when Big 12 heavyweights West Virginia and Texas Tech come to town.

The St. Edward's men and women, each ranked 14th in the nation in NCAA DII in preseason, start their campaigns this weekend. The men are on the road for a couple of tough games in Colorado; the women open at home against New Mexico Highlands, at 1pm, Saturday, Sept. 3.

World Cup Qualifying around the world this weekend: The U.S. men play at St. Vincent & the Grenadines on Friday afternoon at 2:30pm (like all U.S. road games, it's available only on BeIN Sports), then host Trinidad and Tobago in Jacksonville, Fla., on Tuesday, Sept. 6, as the first half of a double-header on Fox Sports: USA at 7:15pm, Mexico-Honduras at 9pm... European WCQ will start Sunday, continuing through Tuesday, with a handful of games on Fox Sports, and many more streaming on ESPN3. Asia and South America are in WCQ action as well, with quite a few games available on BeIN Sports and streaming. In all, there'll be some 120 games played – including the competitive debut for the nation of Kosovo.
