Horns drop to 2-4, featured on Fox Soccer Channel, and more

The UT Longhorns are on the road this week, but you can catch their game at BYU as Fox Soccer Channel's women's college Game of the Week (Thursday, Sept. 6, 8pm). The Horns dropped to 2-4 with last week's losses to Virginia and New Mexico... The St. Edward's women have been a fixture in the Division II national rankings for the past few years; it took them one week, and a pair of road wins in New Mexico and Colorado, to make it back in this year at No. 18; they open their home schedule this weekend against the two teams just behind them in the South Central regional rankings: Metro State (Friday, 2pm) and Regis (Sunday, 1:30pm)... The U.S. Men's World Cup qualifier in Jamaica (Friday, Sept. 7, 7pm) will be televised after all, thanks to Al-Jazeera, whose new beIN Sport network bought all the remaining WCQ road games. Praise Allah (if you have Dish or DirecTV)! The return game, Tuesday, 7pm, in Columbus, Ohio, will be on ESPN2... In the U-20 Women's World Cup, the U.S. beat North Korea and Nigeria to advance to the final, and a rematch with Germany, who beat them 3-0 in the group stage (ESPNU, Saturday, Sept. 8, 5:20am)... Group D for Death in the European Champions League, as the champions of the three top leagues in the world, plus Dutch champ Ajax Amsterdam, got drawn together. Play starts Sept. 18.
