Zilker Holiday Tree 5K

If, like me, you plan on pigging out this holiday season to help fend off the doom and gloom of a "down" economy, peak oil, global warming, and getting dumped for the umpteenth time, why not add the Zilker Holiday Tree 5K to your holiday calendar as a fun social event that doubles as a good way to shed a few of those pounds put on from stuffing too much stuffing into your maw. Mmm, stuffing. Runners traverse what used to be the Trail of Lights starting at the Zilker Tree, traveling through the south side of the park, and then back to the tree. Paid entrants will receive a long-sleeved T-shirt commemorating this year-welcoming event. Parking available by entering the park from MoPac. Sun., Dec. 26, 4:30pm. Zilker Park, starting point at Zilker Tree, 472-3254. $30; $35, day of event; $17, children 11 and younger.
