Soccer Watch

The University of Southern California won the NCAA Women's Col­lege Cup on Sunday in College Station, beating top-ranked University of California-Los Angeles, 2-1, and then Florida State, 2-0, in the final. It was the first Final Four appearance ever by the Women of Troy.

This weekend it's the NCAA men's turn, in North Carolina. The semifinals are Friday: Wake Forest vs. Virginia Tech at 4pm, Ohio State vs. Massachu­setts at 6:30pm, with the final at 2pm Sunday – all live on ESPN2 and ESPNU.

Liverpool and Celtic became the fourth and fifth British teams to make the European Champions League final 16, as group play ended this week; Glasgow Rangers failed to make it six for six, by losing at home to Lyon. The Club World Cup this week, then the UEFA Cup group stage finales the next pretty much finish out the 2007 schedule.
