The UT Lady Longhorns beat Nebraska 2-0 in the first round of the Big 12 conference tournament on Wednesday, avenging a regular season loss, and stretching their unbeaten streak to seven games behind a pair of goals by Kelly Wilson. The 'Horns now take on top-seeded Kansas at 5pm Friday, Nov. 5, in a game that'll be broadcast live on Fox Sports Southwest. A win there would put the 'Horns into the conference championship game at 1pm Sunday, Nov. 7. The tournament is being played at San Antonio's Blossom Soccer Complex (near the intersection of Wurzbach Parkway and Jones Maltzberger Road); see www.texassports.com for details.

The conference finalists are now set for this weekend in the Major League Soccer playoffs: It's the L.A. Galaxy at Kansas City Wizards in the West on Friday night, and New England Revolution at D.C. United in the East on Saturday. The Revs were the only underdog to advance last weekend, as GK Matt Reis stopped two penalty shots to key an upset win over the top-seeded Columbus Crew.

European Champions League play resumed this Tuesday-Wednesday, with Chelsea and Juventus becoming the first teams to advance to the final group round, and troubled Roma becoming the first big name eliminated. See "Soccer Watch Online" for full results, standings.
