Rooster Teeth announced its dates for RTX 2016: July 1-3. The wildly popular event is a celebration of video games, online personalities, and everything Rooster Teeth. Tickets will go on sale early next year and will sell out fast. Attendance has skyrocketed in recent years – in 2013, there were 10,000 attendees; last year, there were 40,000 – so keep an eye on www.roosterteeth.com for updates. Also announced: Rooster Teeth co-founder Burnie Burns has been selected as a contestant for the 28th season of The Amazing Race. He'll be teamed up with girlfriend and co-worker Ashley Jenkins on the popular reality show, which starts shooting this week.

Have an idea for the next great TV show? The ATX Television Festival wants to hear all about it. They announced their 2016 Pitch Competition last week. Starting Dec. 4, contenders can submit a 90-second video which will be appraised by industry pros. Submissions will be whittled down to 25 semifinalists, and then 10 finalists will pitch their projects live during the fest. The 2016 ATX TV Festival runs June 9-12. Austin's prodigal son and boyishly handsome multihyphenate Ethan Hawke returns to town for a booksigning at BookPeople, Tue., Nov. 24, 7pm. Hawke will be signing and reading from his new book, Rules for a Knight, about a knight who, fearing he may not return from battle, leaves his children letters on how to compassionately navigate a complicated world.

SXSW Film announced its opening night film this week, and to the shock of few, it is the new Richard Linklater film. Everybody Wants Some is an ensemble comedy that takes place in the Eighties and follows a group of college baseball players as they adjust to collegiate life and their newfound freedom. The film is a spiritual successor to Linklater's 1993 hit, Dazed and Confused. The film premieres Fri., March 11. SXSW runs March 11-20, 2016. See www.sxsw.com for all the skinny.
