Jon Michael Bailey of Dallas competes in the head-to-head fighting game SoulCalibur II tournament on Sunday, June 12, at the Back Room. The event, which also promoted the Lonestar Rollergirls, drew 20 entrants among the more than 40 attendees. "The tournament, our first, was a training session for our next event, which will be held in the fall, concurrent with the release of SoulCalibur III by Namco," explains organizer Jake Jacobs. "We anticipate a much larger audience and will be looking for a bigger venue for the event, more corporate sponsorship, and larger cash prizes." First prize this year was $75, and "Agustin," a "pro" player from San Antonio, took it home. Second place went to Robert "coNsPirAcy" Vallejo, while "Nightmare" Joe Lee and Shane "Dr. Mario Kart" K. rounded out the winners. For more information, see www.soulcalibur.com.
