This Thursday, Nov. 18, is also your chance to catch the up-and-coming Richard Kerns of Austin as the
Motion Media Arts Center and the
Center for Young Cinema team up for the first in a proposed bimonthly Flicks and Friends Happy Hour at Pedazo Chunk Video (2209 S. First). "Cinemaker Co-op used to have a monthly meeting where they'd invite people to come and screen films that they made or were works-in-progress," says MMAC executive director Erica Shamaly, "and so we kind of want to resurrect that in a more casual setting it's really so that artists here in town can come and show what they've been working on and maybe get some feedback and create a healthy dialogue." Seeing as how this is being held at Pedazo Chunk, beer and refreshments will be served, but the most important things, as always, are the films. Those planning on screening their work should come with DVD or VHS format copies only (sorry, no flippy books). Questions? Call 236-8877.
