Sid Haig

The name may not be familiar but I bet Sid Haig's face is, due to four decades of film and TV work. Haig played the judge in Jackie Brown, the emperor in Emperor of the North, and a guard in Point Blank. On TV he appeared in episodes of Charlie's Angels, MacGyver, The Fall Guy, Mission: Impossible, Gunsmoke, Batman, and Star Trek. I revere him for his work in the films of Jack Hill and Eddie Romero -- usually as a leering villain. In Hill's The Big Doll House, The Big Bird Cage, Coffy, and Foxy Brown, and Romero's Black Mama, White Mama and Woman Hunt, Haig is memorable as the sleaziest of sleazy guys. Sid Haig appears in most of Hill's films, as well as most of the titles being shown during this SXSW Film tribute to Jack Hill, including Spider Baby, Pit Stop, and the four mentioned above. Sid Haig will also be in attendance for SXSW's Jack Hill tribute. --L.B.
