B-movie legend Karlsen explores the seedy underbelly of Americana in this tale of a newspaper editor who finds himself being investigated by his own reporters. Based on a novel by Sam Fuller.
June 16: Mother and Son
(D: Alexander Sokurov, 1997)
Sokurov, Andrei Tarkovsky's heir to the spiritual throne of Russia's poetic cinema, explores the final day of a dying mother and devoted son.
June 23: The Tall T
(D: Budd Boetticher, 1957)
Another one-of-a-kind Western from the Budd Boetticher/Randolph Scott team. A stagecoach is captured and held ransom by outlaws.
June 30: Two English Girls

One of Truffaut's most underrated films, this painstakingly beautiful and heartbreaking tale of a menage a trois was based on a novel by the same author who penned Jules and Jim.

Perhaps the seminal portrayal of the late 1960s youth movement of the Paris Left Bank.

Although famed for his musicals, Minnelli's melodramas were every bit as stylish and masterful. This tale of disillusionment in small town America features what is arguably the late Frank Sinatra's greatest performance ever.
