A decadelong fixture Monday nights on the Eastside, the Little Elmore Reed blues band launched in a BYO juke joint called TC's Lounge and drew rapturous crowds that spilled into the unpaved parking lot. The collection of Little Walter, Elmore James, and Jimmy Reed fiends relocated to the Legendary White Swan, which then became King Bee when it shuttered. Anchored by drummer Mark Hays and regularly featuring Willie Pipkin, J.P. Whitefield, Mike Schermer, Mike Keller, Greg Izor, and sometimes Emily Gimble (everyone from Guy Forsyth to the Monkees' Peter Tork has sat in), LER beats out deep, danceable Chicago-style blues with West Coast swing and New Orleans seasoning. $5.
