If a tree falls...

Sometimes It Rains Spacemen in Texas. The experimental electronic ensemble SIRSIT, comprising local scene veterans Rick Reed, Cory Allen, Brent Fariss, and Josh Russell, digitally released their first improvised studio recording, Colorblind Cycle, an intriguing 24-minute sequence of orbiting synthesizers and modified sound on Russells' Bremsstrahlung Recordings. The label cancels out its own noise pollution by donating all proceeds to One Square Inch for Silence, a sound-preservation campaign, headed by renowned acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton, that aims to preserve natural soundscapes in national parks. Download the collaborative work for free at www.bremsstrahlung-recordings.org. The Deep Dream Decoders, the latest collaboration between Reed and Fariss, summon spirits Saturday at Salvage Vanguard Theater alongside Book of Shadows, Loren Dent, and Inalonelyplace.
