Some Enchanted Evening

Some Enchanted Evening

Accompanying this week's Sony Legacy reissue of Spectres, its 1978 live offshoot has finally grown into its title. Originally truncated at 36 minutes, Some Enchanted Evening now rumbles at twice the run time without sacrificing any of MC5's "Kick Out the Jams" or diluting "(Don't Fear) The Reaper." Equally savory is the hourlong DVD, same tour, different source, and no less Saturday Night Live worthy, particularly Joe Bouchard's fleet-fingered bass solo opening "5 Guitars," the BÖC showstopper.
