Rory Gallagher

Live at Montreux (Eagle Eye)

From the late Sixties until his death in 1995, Rory Gallagher inflamed blues-driven guitar rock with a passion worthy of his Irish heritage. Live at Montreux gathers the best of his five appearances at the venerable Swiss festival with a handful of bonus tracks, all expertly shot. Gallagher's this-one-goes-to-11 style is adored by enraptured audiences that eat up his inspiration, equal parts Lonnie Donegan and Muddy Waters, as he wanks the bejesus out of his battered Strat. It's for his fans, of course, but you have to really love Gallagher to sit through two discs' worth. **.5
