Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Explodes Over Historic Sixth Street Entertainment District; S'mores Served

By Virginia B. Wood, August 6, 2010, Food

Actually, parkside chef/owner Shawn Cirkiel will be serving s'mores, Three Olives Vodka grape sno-cones, and other film-inspired street foods when he teams up with the Alamo Drafthouse to present a twilight screening of the goofy sci-fi comedy Ghostbusters this weekend. The Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow production will close off the 500 block of San Jacinto for the evening. Gates open at 7:30pm, and the suggested donation is $5. Proceeds from donations and food and beverage sales will benefit the neighborhood cleanup efforts of the 6ixth Street Austin association (www.6ixth.com). Bring some lawn chairs, and relax in front of the Rolling Roadshow's 40-foot inflatable screen. "The Sixth Street District is an Austin treasure. Business owners in the neighborhood are working together to improve it and clean it up," says Drafthouse CEO Tim League. Have some laughs, eat some s'mores, and help them out! Sunday, Aug. 8, 9pm.
