My Selections From the Amarone Anteprima
By Wes Marshall, Fri., July 30, 2010
Tenuta Sant'Antonio Campo dei Gigli: All Amarones are expensive, and this brand usually runs about $75, but it beats many of the brands that run more than $300. This wine targets fans of the powerful, concentrated style of Amarone.
Corte Campagnola Gli Archi: Chocolate and cherry aromas along with huge extraction. This is not for food but perfect for a cigar.
Latium Morini: Perfectly balanced with rich mouthfeel and long finish. Ready now, but in a few years, wow!
Monte del Frá: Imagine dark cherries preserved in a sweet vodka.
