Jack Allen's Kitchen (7720 Hwy. 71 W., 852-8558, www.jackallenskitchen.com) hosts a St. Patrick's Day happy hour party on its patio with live music, house-cured corned beef, Jameson Irish Whiskey, and Convict Hill Stout from Independence Brewing. Wednesday, March 17, 3-7pm.
East Meets Fest this time every year in the parking lot at Uchi (801 S. Lamar, 916-4808, www.uchiaustin.com) with free live music and Japanese street food for sale. Saturday, March 20, 11am-3pm.
Central Market (4001 N. Lamar, 206-1000) rings in the Persian New Year with a Nowruz Festival. Entertainment will be provided by UT's Middle Eastern ensemble Bereket, the 1001 Nights Orchestra, and Atash on the outdoor patio. Persian holiday food items will be for sale on the cafe menu.
