• Dog lovers take note – the Austin Farmers' Market (Fourth & Guadalupe, www.austinfarmersmarket.org) hosts a Doggone It to Summer Festival with a dog parade and costume contest at 10am, followed by a Doggie Happy Hour featuring handmade dog biscuits and cupcakes made by regular market vendor Paw Bakery. Prizes will be awarded for look-alike (dog and owner), weirdest, and best over-all costumes. Saturday, Oct. 25, 9am-1pm.

• The Draught House Pub & Brewery (4112 Medical Pkwy., 452-6258, www.draughthouse.com) turns 40 this month, and it's determined to prove that even though it's now officially middle-aged, it still knows how to party! Drop by to help the Draught House celebrate, and enjoy local brews, cask ales, and Argentinean barbecue complemented by vintage soul sounds spun by Jubal the bartender under a tent in the parking lot. Saturday, Oct. 25, 1-10pm.

• The fun-loving folks in the Sausage Capital of Texas will demonstrate both their civic pride and their sense of humor at the 21st annual Hogeye Festival in downtown Elgin this weekend. The family-friendly all-day event features a carnival, food booths, plenty of kids activities, live music, a BBQ Pork Cook-Off, the Road Hog Car Show, an arts and crafts show, several hilarious contests including the Hogeye Hoedown Talent Show and Cow Patty Bingo, plus the crowning of King Hog or Queen Sowpreme, who will rule for the coming year. Elgin is only 19 miles east of Austin, and the folks there invite you to help them celebrate both humor and history at the "best little pig gig in Texas." Saturday, Oct. 25, 10am-6pm.

Lovexotic is a very creative new event to benefit Family by Choice, a nonprofit adoption service organization for LGBT, singles, and traditional and nontraditional families throughout Texas. The Clay Pit (1601 Guadalupe, www.claypit.com) plays host to the party in its upstairs ballroom, and the offerings in each "lounge" will include ethnic foods, region-specific wines and spirits, dance performances, and fashion exhibits from a mélange of world cultures. For example, the Asian Lounge will spotlight Thailand, India, and Japan with foods from the Clay Pit and Kenichi, wine from Sake2Me, and spirits from Charbay Vodka. There will also be European (Péché, Siena Ristorante, Vias Imports, Bombay Sapphire Gin) and South American (Rio's, Starlite, Palm Bay International, Treaty Oak Platinum Rum) lounges. Renowned local mixologists Bill Norris, David Alan, and Joel Eifler will be on hand preparing cocktails. Tickets are $30, available online at www.familybychoice.org/lovexotic. Saturday, Oct. 25, 8pm-12mid.
