Last-Minute Valentine's Brainstorms:

• Check out the special Valentine's movies and feast menus at the Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar, Village, and Ritz to see if any spaces remain: www.originalalamo.com.

• Those party girls from Ararat (552-7365, www.myspace.com/araratrestaurant) have two Valentine's events this weekend, and reservations are necessary at both. The first is a dinner complete with entertainment ($40 per person) at the German-Texas Heritage Society (507 E. 10th, www.gths.net) that starts at 6pm on Friday, Feb. 15. The second is the Lover's Feast for the Senses ($35 per person) in the heated, tented pavilion at Hot Mama's Espresso Bar (2401 E. Sixth) from 6 to 10pm on Saturday, Feb. 16.

• Enjoy specific events such as the complimentary Merlot & Choco­late Tasting featuring Roscar Chocolates at Becker Vineyards (830/644-2681, www.beckervineyards.com) from 10am to 6pm on Saturday, Feb. 16, and noon-6pm on Sunday, Feb. 17, or make reservations for the Valentine's Luncheon ($65 per person plus tax) there at noon on Saturday, Feb. 16. There's also the Like Wine for Chocolate wine-pairing class ($18 per person, registration required) taught by Jane Nickles at Fall Creek Vineyards (325/379-5361, www.fcv.com) from 2 to 3pm on Saturday, Feb. 16.

• Fine food and drink meet high fashion when Neiman Marcus joins forces with Savvy Handcrafted Vodka, the Steeping Room, NoRth, Jasper's Gourmet Backyard Cuisine, the Daily Grill, and Viva Chocolato! to present Fashion Plates, a fashion show and cocktail party benefiting the Texas Hill Country Wine & Food Festival on the second floor at the Neiman's location in the Domain. For more info on this year's festival, see www.texaswineandfood.org. Tickets are $75 per person and can be purchased by calling 249-6300. Thursday, Feb. 21, 7-9pm.
