There are still three Wednesdays in August on which to enjoy some wine education and socializing at UnWine Wednesdays at the Belmont (305 W. Sixth, 457-0300). Check out California Bubbles on Aug. 15, Cool & Groovy Reds on Aug. 22, and Crisp & Clean Whites on Aug. 29. One-time $25 lifetime membership. Wednesday evenings, 6-8pm.

The National Association of Catering Executives invites you to Eat the Heat, 'cause some like it hot, at their annual benefit. The progressive cocktail party will hit spots around the Warehouse District such as Six Lounge, Vicci, and Speakeasy before stopping at Austin's City Hall. Some of the city's finest culinary talent will be serving food while the crowd enjoys live music and shops at the silent auction. For ticket information, contact Leanna Surina at 524-5974 or Edgar Gierbolini at 744-4832 or go to www.eat-the-heat.com. Thursday, Aug. 16, 5:30-10pm.

The chic shops in the "04" plaza are hosting an Opera Rendevous Happy Hour at Cissi's Market (1400 S. Congress, 225-0521). A $10 donation at the door offers access to the Austin Lyric Opera Guild's precelebration for their upcoming Noche de Pasion, a garden soiree scheduled for Sept. 15. The Rendevous event will feature fine wines and delicious comestibles courtesy of Cissi's, entertainment by strolling opera singers, and models from By George and Ann Kelso Salon wearing glamorous garden-party ensembles. Thursday, Aug. 16, 7-8:30pm.
