The owners of Faraday's Kitchen Store (1501 RR 620 N. Ste. A, 266-5666) are throwing a Foodie-Palooza to celebrate two successful years in business this weekend. The Way Out Wineries are hosting a progressive Picnic Road Trip beginning this weekend: $65 per couple or single gets you a custom picnic backpack with service for four. Visit all eight wineries to complete the set: Find plates at one winery, glasses at another, tablecloths, napkins, and a cheese board elsewhere. Rob and Amy Cartwright of Independence Brewing (3913 Todd Ln. #607; www.independencebrewing.com) invite Austinites to demonstrate their love for Barton Springs at the second annual Freestyle for Barton Springs Jump Contest. The winning jump will be featured on a special edition label on Independence Freestyle Wheat Beer, and the $25 entry fee will benefit the Austin Parks Foundation. Saturday, July 7; registration at Barton Springs, 7-8:15am. The contest starts at 8:30am; afterparty at the brewery starts at noon.

North by Northwest Restaurant & Brewery (10010 Capital of TX Hwy. N., 467-6969) hosts a Brewer's Dinner wherein chef George Powell and brewer Ty Phelps will explore the relationship between food and beer. Each of the five courses will be complemented by a different beer; $59, reservations required. Wednesday, July 11, 7pm. See p.42 for a new review of NXNW.

The Belmont (305 W. Sixth, 457-0300) has announced the schedule for their UnWine Wednesdays this month: July 11, Down Under; July 18, South of San Francisco; and July 25, Sonoma Whites. Wednesdays, 6-8pm.
