• Join in the fun with businesses along Guadalupe at Third Thursday today. Drop by Tom's Tabooley (2928 Guadalupe, 479-7337) for the falafel special, and enjoy live music from local singer-songwriters and happy-hour beer prices from 7-10pm at Boomerang's Gourmet Veggie & Meat Pies (3110 Guadalupe, 380-0032); Thursday evening, Aug. 17.

• Many Hill Country wineries have grape-stomping events planned over the next two weekends along with Wine Harvest Trail. For example, the Gilstraps at Texas Hills Vineyard (830/868-2321, www.texashillsvineyard.com) invite guests to sample wine and artisanal cheeses on the patio while stomping grapes to Italian music. Go home with a footprinted T-shirt; 10am-5pm, Saturday, Aug. 19 and 26; noon-5pm, Saturday, Aug. 20 and 27.

• The theme of final installment of the Sustainable Shopper's Ball (www.sustain-a-ball.org) is Easy Ways to Make a Difference: Green Lifestyle and Business Practices for the Whole Year. Natalie Marquis of the Habitat Suites and Steve Simmons of Amy's Ice Creams will be the featured speakers. Shop with more than 65 local green vendors, eat locally grown organic food, play in the kids area, ride the BioDiesel Train, and have great fun. Held in conjunction with the Sunset Valley Farmers Market (Toney Burger parking lot on Highway 290 West); 9am-1pm, Saturday, Aug. 19.

• Learn some invaluable methods for organic gardening in containers at Eastside Cafe (2113 Manor Rd., 494-1464) They'll serve four pot-inspired appetizers, three wines, and good information about Potty Training the garden; $37 per person, reservations required; 6:30-8pm, Tuesday, Aug. 22, and Wednesday, Aug. 23.
