The beer lovers of the Black Star Co-op (www.blackstarpub.com) have scheduled a beer social at MonkeyWrench Books (110 E. North Loop, 407-6925) to celebrate the recent completion of their new small brew house and the debut of the Weizen Burton, a "weizenbock with a bit of English malt and fermented with an ESB yeast strain." Drop by for a visit and a pint; 7pm, Saturday, Aug. 12.

Enjoy a late-night shimmy with a performance by the local professional belly-dance ensemble Sabaya, at Copa (217 Congress, 479-5002). This monthly Sahara Nights celebration of Middle Eastern dance features the music of DJ Avatar, and an international menu of late-night appetizers prepared by Marakesh followed by live music from Atash. Cover is $7; early birds can join the free belly-dance lessons at 9:30pm; 10pm, Saturday nights Aug. 12, Sept. 9, Oct. 14.

Savor foods from each of the five Hawaiian islands without ever leaving Austin at the Island Hop Wine Dinner at Roy's (340 E. Second, 391-1500). Chefs from Roy Yamaguchi's restaurants around the country developed courses featuring flavors indigenous to the five islands that were then matched with unique wine selections. Dinner is $85 per person, excluding tax and gratuity, and reservations are necessary; 6:30pm, Tuesday, Aug. 15.
