Women, Memories, and Food

Three famed dames look back and ahead.

Three prominent female journalists released food memoirs this spring. Two of them are Texans who went to New York City in search of careers, and the third is a New Yorker who returned to her hometown to become the most powerful restaurant critic in the country. Liz Smith and Linda Ellerbee made me proud in the way that they represent Texas women to the world, while Ruth Reichl made me wonder if I'm taking my job seriously enough.
