B&B Holidays

Both Citiview and the Bremond House will be bustling with holiday activities. The following events will give curious Austinites a chance to check out the facilities decked out in all their holiday finery.

On December 12, the Heritage Society of Austin will sponsor a Candlelight Christmas Tour of the Historic Bremond Block, 4:30-8:30pm. During the event, Seventh Street will be closed between Guadalupe and San Antonio to accommodate musicians, choirs, strolling carolers, and food vendors. Santa Claus and surprise visitors from the cast of the Nutcracker might just drop by too. Some of the six Bremond Houses will be open to the public with docents on duty to share information about the history of each house. Tickets can be purchased from the Heritage Society of Austin at their office just inside the Sixth Street entrance to the Driskill Hotel, or from Betty Baker at the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau (201 E. Second), 474-5171.

Women of Wine, an Austin-based organization that promotes wine education, will hold their third annual Bubbly and Beaujolais event at Citiview B&B and Spa, 1405 E. Riverside Dr. on Thursday, December 5 at 6:30pm. A menu of savory taste treats prepared by chef Linda Fox will complement the wines especially chosen for the evening by Austin Wine Merchant. They'll be pouring traditional Beaujolais, several Beaujolais Nouveau, and a Sparkling Saumur from the French Loire Valley. The event is open to members, guests and the public at a cost of $40. Make reservations at 867-1952. -- V.W.
