Vicious, Voracious, Villainous

Dear Editor,
In general, Texans do not like anybody telling them what to do. If, for example, you decide to wear a mask for virus protection, plus, you get vaccinated, why, that's your business and, that's all there is to it.
Or, if you don't want to wear a mask, don't wanna get vaccinated, why, that's, also, your business and, that's that. It does not concern anybody else.
In the United States, the idea of mandating vaccination began in the early 19th century. In 1809, the state of Massachusetts mandated that everybody get vaccinated against smallpox. But, some people didn't want to do this. After a lot of argument, the Supreme Court finally ruled that the Cambridge Board of Health could mandate smallpox vaccination in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Right now, looking around, you can see that a lot of people don't want a mask and, further, they don't want the coronavirus vaccination. It's their business, right? No one else involved, right?
Actually, it doesn't work that way. Say, you don't get vaccinated, and you don't wear a mask. So, you get the COVID virus (and, immediately, before you actually know that you have the virus) it spreads to your friends and neighbors. And, a friend of yours gets the virus and dies.
Well, you can blame yourself, blame your friend because he didn't wear a mask, or, blame ex-president Trump for saying that the COVID virus is no big deal. But, trying to find out who to blame is useless. We cannot resurrect the dead.
Texas has one of the highest COVID deaths per 100,000 in the U.S. Every day in Texas, we have something like 188 COVID deaths. Massachusetts, for example, has about 11 COVID deaths per 100,000 people. COVID 19 mortality varies quite a lot from state to state.
I say, get vaccinated. Don't help spread the vicious, voracious, villainous COVID virus.
