What's the Goal?

Dear Editor,
Greg Abbott and the Texas Legislature are currently focusing on a fight with the Biden Administration over border security and passing laws designed to restrict Texans from voting. One must wonder, what is the end goal here? Of all the things the governor could focus on, he's choosing wedge issues and seems to be ignoring the ongoing global pandemic. With the Delta variant spreading around the United States and gaining traction in places like Amarillo, the state government should be focused on containing the virus. Whether that be in the state of Texas or helping the global fight against the virus, it is vital that as many people are possible are vaccinated less it mutates to the point we have to redesign our vaccines. Needless lives are being lost, and there are bigger fish to fry than what is being currently legislated.
