Not So Funny Austin

RECEIVED Wed., May 12, 2021

Hey there,
Wanted to make you aware of this racist video circulating online from a comedy show at Vulcan Gas Company the other night (show produced by Big Laugh Comedy Network). Tony Hinchcliffe is the racist comedian on stage here. From what I understand he has moved to Austin and is close with Joe Rogan.
My entire feed yesterday was filled with longtime Austin comics denouncing Tony, Vulcan, and The Creek and the Cave where he was set to perform this weekend opening for Rogan. NONE of them have made any kind of acknowledgment about the video. Creek & Cave simply posted an instagram graphic with a ":)" instead of denouncing racism or giving any kind of inclination about their standards when it comes to racism on stage. In my opinion comedians like this should be blacklisted and venues should be standing together to stop AAPI hate, it's obviously incredibly unacceptable.
Creek and Cave is new here (originally was a venue in NYC, just opened in old Barracuda space). They have a problematic history when it comes to alt-right comedy, and currently have a show booked for League of Skanks in May (Tony was supposed to be on that one - all I know they've said in a message to someone was that he's not performing "this week").
I think this is newsworthy and these venues should have to respond and be held accountable for what they host on their stages. These are the people moving to Austin?
