Dear Editor,
I saw
this letter by Erik McCowan and completely agree. We have plenty of already bulldozed places in the Austin area that could be used for solar cells. What about all of the large parking lots Large building roofs? Why are we not using these first? Some places are. I visited Pima Air Museum in Arizona a couple of years ago - their parking lots are covered by solar cells. There are many types of parking lot solar cell technology available, such as solar powered car chargers. It seems to be quite backward and short sighted to bulldoze an area of carbon dioxide absorbing trees to install solar cells when so much already bulldozed land is available for this! (I suspect the reason is the usual suspect-cheaper in the short term-but damaging in the long term).
