Pursue Land Use Truth

RECEIVED Fri., Sept. 11, 2020

Dear Editor,
I really appreciated reading “Opinion: Time to Look in the Mirror on Housing” [Sept. 11]. As someone that was priced out of my Central Austin neighborhood, Whitworth and Kenny are dead on the money. It was refreshing to see someone openly acknowledge what we all secretly know – while Austin might be progressive in some areas, our land use policy isn't one of them.
Thank you for publishing this, and I would like to see more content that advocates for pursuing the values that we all ostensibly share – equity, diversity, opportunity, and sustainability. It's a refreshing change of pace from the hand-wringing, fear-mongering, and armchair city planning that seems to dominate the discourse around this topic here, in other local news sources, and most vitally at city hall.
