Injustice Corrected

RECEIVED Thu., Jan. 30, 2020

Dear Editor,
I love the article you shared about Bevis Griffin ["Gypsy Tricks," Music, Jan. 24]. He has been a fixture of the Austin music scene for as long as I can remember. Every amazing band that he wasn’t in was one he promoted or managed or was an inspiration of. He was here before any of us were. He was doing things that were unheard of on the scene and it’s been a travesty that his influence wasn’t celebrated earlier. The Austin music history that has been presented until now was missing his undeniable influence, and why he hasn’t been presented until now is an absolute injustice. I am so glad this is being corrected and that he is being written back into the narrative. Thank you to Tim Stegall for his monumental exposé and so much gratitude for those who appreciate Bevis’ contributions to the music and the culture.
