Dear Editor, I am disappointed that The Austin Chronicle was agnostic on Proposition 6 to fund the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). Your readers tend to support measures that improve quality of life and access to health care. In the U.S., approximately 39 out of 100 men and 38 out of 100 women will develop cancer during their lifetime. As such, cancer represents a series of diseases that affect a significant portion of the population. Proposition 6 is a tremendous opportunity to do something about it. I hope your readers will vote Yes on Prop 6 to help save lives.
Sincerely, Marina Hench (Sr. Government Relations Director, Texas American Cancer Society, Cancer Action Network)
