Holiday Greetings

RECEIVED Wed., Dec. 26, 2018

Dear Editor,
Many of the offensively rich take for granted that their wealth makes them uniquely qualified to hold power. They live in a delusional world of contempt for most of the human race. These high and mighty tyrants have other false beliefs, such as: denial of climate change, promotion of war, advancement of inequality, and an abnormal desire for a confederation of totalitarian regimes resembling the Nazi Axis. Various countries have endorsed these deceptions. Pushing forward with these misleading convictions will accelerate the sixth extinction, ending life on Earth.

Overlooked Opportunity

RECEIVED Wed., Dec. 26, 2018

Dear Editor,
I think we may be overlooking an opportunity with the whole Manchaca/Menchaca renaming issue ["Would You Like to Swap a Vowel?" News, Oct. 5]. We already have Koenig/Highway 290/Allandale/Northland/Bull Creek Road/RM 2222, and we have a whole set of streets named South First through South Seventh that run perpendicular to First through Seventh streets. What we could do is change one-quarter of Manchaca Road to Menchaca Road, one-quarter to Maenchaca Lane, one-quarter to Minchaca Parkway *AND* continue to pronounce all of it "Man-shack." Maybe TxDOT would even change the spelling on exit signs on westbound Ben White but not on eastbound. That should confuse some people!

Sassquatch Sighting

RECEIVED Tue., Dec. 25, 2018

Dear Editor,
You know you're in Austin when the explosive, front page [#MeToo] exposé revolves around a spurned kiss and a "creepy hug" from a falling-down drunk [“Tangled Web,” News, Dec. 21]. Hopefully, between the lawyers, the GoFundMes, and the outraged protesters, we can find the safe space we need to heal our collective PTSD. #SpiderHouseSurvivor
