Norsuch and Sotoberg

RECEIVED Tue., Oct. 2, 2018

Dear Editor,
Michael King’s "Point Austin" column on the Place 6 race for the 3rd Court of Appeals ["Disorder in the Court … of Appeals," News, Sept. 28] quoted part of my Misrule of Law blog post (describing respected constitutionalist Mike Toth as combining “the best qualities of Ollie North and Neil Gorsuch”) but failed to include my description of Gisela “Not Quite Drunk Enough for a DWI” Triana: She “combines the worst qualities of Rosemary Lehmberg and Sonia Sotomayor.” And you should have included the plainly loaded judge’s mug shot. But thanks for spelling my name correctly.
Sincerely,
Mark Pulliam

Now He Cares

RECEIVED Mon., Oct. 1, 2018

Dear Editor,
Since Christine Blasey Ford came forward, countless Americans have pressed for an independent investigation of her and additional women's claims via our single-voice, available avenues. This has surely included many online messages to senators.
Until today, with a generic message reply on his assault and harassment prevention efforts, Senator Cornyn has never said a word beyond pressing forward with most Republican senators' openly misogynistic drive for Brett Kavanaugh.
And on the day he and his cohorts presumably have too few chauvinist votes, out of the blue he pretends to care.
Senator Cornyn, like so many others now revealed, is a poor pretense of integrity and morality.

Despicable on So Many Levels

RECEIVED Mon., Oct. 1, 2018

Dear Editor,
I just read Mary Tuma’s contribution to Naked City regarding one of our state senators ["Shameless, Sen. Schwertner," News, Sept. 28]. I don’t know anything about this particular state senator, but if his name comes before me again, I will forever associate his name with the allegation that your editor allowed Ms. Tuma to repeat. It is despicable on so many levels that any journalist would repeat an unconfirmed allegation from an anonymous, alleged victim.
Regards,
Brian "Bronco" Broussard
News Editor Chase Hoffberger responds: There is nothing unconfirmed about the fact that the University of Texas is investigating whether Sen. Schwertner sent the alleged text message.
