HOF Hopefuls

RECEIVED Mon., March 13, 2017

Dear Editors,
I was fascinated with the so-called “complete list” of Austin Music Hall of Fame inductees.
But, there are some glaringly absent, overlooked (and hopefully future) members. I still believe in sending a ballot to all the past winners (just like the Baseball Hall of Fame does), and let a “Veterans Committee” add one to three new (old) members per year.
We must all agree that the Hall of Fame cannot be called “complete” without including such deserving Austin area musicians and scenemakers (in no particular order) as ZZ Top, Waylon Jennings, Junior Franklin, Uranium Savages, Bobby Earl Smith, Earl Poole Ball, Charlie Robison, Esteban Jordan, Kaz Kazanoff, Tex Thomas, Kim Wilson, Eddie Wilson, Burton Wilson, Jubal Clark, Robert Powell St. John, Mandy Mercier, Herman the German, Larry Lange, Alex Napier, Mike Buck, Rodney Craig, Ray Hennig, Margaret Moser, Conni Hancock, Junior Brown, Chris O’Connell, Will Sexton, Carolyn Wonderland, Leeann Atherton, David Murray, Kathy Murray, the Golden Dawn, Denim, Edgar Winter, Freddy Fender, Ed Quinn, Jay Trachtenberg, Wali “Oat Willie” Stopher, Sandy Lockett, John Clay, Tracy Nelson, George Rains, Layton DePenning, Tailgators, Don Leady, Steve Doerr, Jackie Newhouse, Freddie Pharaoh, Little Joe Hernández, Alan Haynes, Two Hoots & a Holler, Pressure, the Lotions, Jim Mings, Bill Campbell, Houston White, the Storm, Lewis Cowdrey, Jimmy Day, Jimmy Carl Black, Arthur Brown, Dennis Keller, Shiva’s Headband & Spencer Perskin, Ed Vinyard, Jerry Barnett, Kenny Parker, Freda & the Firedogs, Krackerjack, Eve Monsees, Gary Clark Jr., Ike Ritter, Doak Snead, Sweet Mary Egan, Bill Ham, Rex Bell, Rusty Bell, Joe Gracey, Mike Kindred, Buddy Miles, Gregg Rolie, Stu Cook, Danny Galindo, Jim Franklin, Kerry Awn, Blackie White, Guy Juke, Cornell Hurd Band, Bob Livingston, John Inmon, Katie Webster, the Lost Gonzo Band (ALL OF THEM), Robert Shaw, Phil Richardson, Guy Clark, Jeff Barnes, Brave Combo, Riley Osborn, B.W.     I’m sure I’m leaving somebody out, but you get the idea.
