Disappointed

RECEIVED Mon., Jan. 18, 2016

Dear Editor,
I just read the review on Ride Along 2 [Film Listings, Jan. 15]. I agreed with everything that Marjorie Baumgarten said, except the last paragraph when she mentioned the movie being released on MLK Day and threw a jab via a reference of the Black Lives Matter movement.
She stated that “there still must be a better way to demonstrate that black lives matter than by throwing the community’s money at a dopey cop comedy.”
What the hell does that have to do with anything? This is a freaking comedy movie. And last I checked, MLK Day is meant to be celebrated by everybody and every race.
If this type of “place the black people in a box” mentality is a reflection of this so-called liberal newspaper and the city’s attitude toward black people is true, then no wonder the black population is declining in this city.
Austin and The Austin Chronicle is very liberal and supportive to gays, UT-educated white people, rich people, and Richard Linklater.
