Accountability Missing

RECEIVED Fri., Dec. 19, 2014

Dear Editor,
I think Chief Acevedo should be ashamed at his unfair and prejudicial tactics against a decorated police officer and American Purple Heart recipient [“House Arrest,” News, Dec. 19]. Chief Acevedo's bullish attitude has gone on too long, and he should be held accountable for his actions. How could he possibly justify to the citizens of Austin paying a public employee a normal salary to simply sit home for 40 hours a week? Especially when all his subversive efforts to find "valid" fault in Officer Hopkins' actions have run into dead ends. I am a 21-year Air Force veteran, 17-year police officer, and I have never heard of such a ridiculous scenario orchestrated by a tyrant like Chief Acevedo. Where's the accountability?
