Dear Editor,
You can label me as "too supportive" of the superintendent position [“
Wanted for Ballot: AISD Candidates,” News, Aug. 1], since I advocate for students across the district and that requires that I work in partnership and collaboratively with people from all walks of life. That the superintendent is one of 10 leaders making decisions that impact our students and our city is why I am supportive of that position. People with a mentality that is stuck in the past (hello, Carstarphen is gone – moved away months ago and we can't let that go?) are very good at complaining, attacking, and mudslinging, but where are their solutions? AISD faces tremendous challenges these next few years. It's time to refocus and get back to work to discover solutions instead of bringing up the past again and again.
