Who Is and Isn't Libertarian

RECEIVED Mon., Oct. 22, 2012

Dear Editor,
I am the Libertarian (notice capital L) candidate for County Commissioner in Precinct 3, and also the Libertarian Party state chair. I helped recruit a lot of Libertarian (capital L) candidates for the ballot. Republican Donna Campbell is not one of them, in contrast to your Oct. 19 edition’s “Libertarian doctor Donna Campbell (R)” [“Breaking Down the Ballot: Partisan,” News]. I don’t know what makes you think a candidate that wants to outlaw gay marriage is Libertarian, but Donna Campbell certainly is not Libertarian. If she wants to be a Libertarian, she can try getting the nomination from our party. If you want our help in identifying Libertarian candidates, ask us who we nominated.
On a positive note, I do appreciate you listing our real Libertarian candidates, endorsing Ben Easton for Congress District 17, endorsing Roberto Koelsch for Supreme Court, and for prominently displaying State Senate District 14 candidate Ryan Dixon’s magnificent mustache.
Yours in liberty,
Pat Dixon
Chair, Libertarian Party of Texas
[News Editor Michael King replies: In 'Breaking Down the Ballot,' Donna Campbell is actually listed as a Republican, although described as having libertarian leanings. If Patrick Dixon prefers 'hard-right,' we wouldn't quibble, although Campbell's politics are not as far from those of his party as Dixon would like to maintain.]
