APD Needs More Officers Like Lynch

RECEIVED Sun., Aug. 26, 2012

Dear Editor,
Re: “APD's Sleep Disorder,” News, Aug. 24: As I read Jordan Smith's article, my heart became heavy. You see, I live about a block from the notorious Montopolis crack house on Short Kemp. While I never met Officer Amy Lynch, the Montopolis neighborhood owes her a huge debt of gratitude for her efforts in getting that Short Kemp property pushed through the city's rather cumbersome and at times overwhelming abatement process. That property, and others like it, have been a disgrace to the Montopolis neighborhood for well over a decade and was one of the major motivators for the formation of not only the Montopolis Neighborhood Association, but also the Montopolis Community Alliance.
The Austin Police Department needs more officers like Officer Lynch, not less. I can only hope that this will eventually work out in favor of APD reaching some sort of agreement to keep Officer Lynch on the force.
Sincerely,
Delwin Goss
President
Montopolis Community Alliance
