Black Coming Up Short in Vision

RECEIVED Wed., Feb. 1, 2012

Dear Louis Black,
Hi there! I have two complaints. One: Where is “Page Two” in the online edition? You would think there would be a link right there on the home page or one of the links under News. My second complaint is, why can't Louis Black and Alex Jones merge? Louis takes all those columns to say there are super concepts of religion through his own experience and the Prankster and writer Ken Kesey. Brevity was never Louis Black's strong suit as an editor, and sometimes I get the impression that the columns are just a P.T. Barnum show. You once stated that you didn't know much about Islam, so I sent you a book and never heard back from you. Your legacy, to me, is as an editor who devised a lucrative advertising product, with others such as great investigative and timely pieces, from writers like Jordan Smith, Michael King, and Michael Ventura. But you are coming up short in vision, always attacking Alex Jones, Infowars, and camp. No one likes Alex Jones' style 100% of the time, but no one can argue that he puts out some good and interesting information once in a while – TerrorStorm, etc. So how about giving him a one-page weekly in the Chronicle that you could critique? How about “Political Compromise,” the American experience; that could sell papers and the mature way to “protect the Constitution.” It's a downright shame that you two are at complete odds with each other.
Michael Brooks
