Proof Positive Economy Dependent on Average Working Family

RECEIVED Mon., Oct. 3, 2011

Dear Editor,
Re: “The Hightower Report” [Sept. 30]: The assertion that the current recession is the fault of the American consumer is proof positive that the real job creators are not the megawealthy but are instead the average American working family. The demand created by the average consumer's purchases of products and services is what drives the market and creates jobs. This is the exact opposite of the falsehoods Republican Sen. John Boehner and his gang of spin doctors have been trying to foist on the American public, i.e, that the megawealthy are the "job creators" and they deserve the tax cuts. If you want to stimulate the economy, give the American consumer "buying power" and get out of the way.
Reminds me of all the other attempts to spin something to be the exact opposite of what it really does. No Child Left Behind (every child except the children of the wealthy left behind), etc.
