Military Under Control of the Ruling Elite

RECEIVED Mon., Nov. 15, 2010

Dear Editor,
Every year around Veterans Day, we are reminded of the immense power of certain myths that contribute immensely to the dysfunctionality of the human family. Americans are led to believe that our military keeps us free, defends us from enemies, and defends democracy. A closer look reveals that those are for the most part lies, designed to perpetuate the illusion that unfathomably huge annual expenditures for “defense” are necessary for our “freedom” and “democracy.” The truth is that the military does not keep us free, nor does it defend democracy. There's no doubt that more than 99.99% of our soldiers are good people with honorable intentions, but like the American people, they have had the wool pulled over their eyes for many decades. These days, the truth seems stranger than fiction. For the most part, the military follows the orders of billionaire members of the ruling elite who use it to shrewdly gain power over other nations and to collect the most massive profits attainable anywhere. To maintain the war economy, enemies are essential, so agents of the U.S. government routinely agitate politicians in certain nations to keep tensions high. The truth will set us free from the horribly corrupt status quo, while the same old lies will only keep us in ignorance and servitude to insanely greedy misleaders. Readers who don't already know are encouraged to utilize alternative and liberal news outlets – most of which treasure truth, human rights, diplomacy, and peace – and to question the so-called authorities. Those who do know are encouraged to help spread the word.
