Birth of Texas Independent Movement

RECEIVED Fri., Nov. 6, 2009

Dear Editor,
The state of Texas came into existence with bold assertions about government of a free republic: It derives its authority from the people and exists solely for their benefit, and the fate of the republic is “confidently” left to the decision of a supreme arbiter of the destiny of nations. It is from this supreme arbiter, the creator, that unalienable rights of every person originate, according to the Founding Fathers of the United States of America in their Declaration of Independence from the throne of England.
On this day of Nov. 6, I am declaring the de facto establishment of the Texas Independence Movement. The purpose is to assert that, emanating from Texas because of its centrality, every person in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central America, and South America has the unalienable right to life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness – despite actions or proclamations by governments of those countries to the contrary. These rights are granted by no person nor by any legislative, judicial, or executive body.
Those unalienable rights extend to every individual and are not incumbent upon any religious belief or lack thereof, economic status, or political or sexual preference. No government or religious body has the authority to dictate anyone’s personal understanding of the origin of the universe and of the species on earth or to limit the association with any who share a particular understanding, be it theistic, atheistic, or agnostic.
Furthermore, any person or group is free to hate another person or group, as long as said entity refrains from trespassing on the life, liberty, health, or property of any other. Motivation of crime is totally irrelevant.
Let the light of liberty shine from the hearts of the people of Texas to North America, Central America, South America, Mexico, and to the entire world.
Sincerely,
Kenney C. Kennedy
