Re: "The Texas Roots of the Hate Crimes Bill” [The Gay Place Blog, Oct. 29]: “… a remarkable collaboration between Texas' gay and African-American communities" – good to read that statement. Some of the things I heard post-Proposition 8 were downright racist. Julian Bond's speech at the National Equality March was a welcome answer to the perception of bigotry between the two communities, but still … nice to read.
