Dear Editor, Studies recently showed that atrazine levels even lower than the Environmental Protection Agency legal limit in drinking water were linked to birth defects (including skull and facial malformations and misshapen limbs), low birth rates, premature births, menstrual problems, and prostate and breast cancer. Atrazine is an endocrine disruptor that interferes with human development. Forty-three water systems in six states have already sued manufacturers of atrazine to pay for water contamination cleanup. This weed killer is hazardous at current EPA levels, and the EPA should protect developing infants, children, and adults from being exposed to this dangerous carcinogen.
