Prudish, Repressed Teetotaler Idiot

RECEIVED Mon., Aug. 10, 2009

Dear Editor,
Re: “'This Ain't the Sixties'” [“Postmarks,” Aug. 7]: Mr. Goss is an idiot; he is typical of the repressed, teetotaling, prudish attitude of Americans at large. Thirty million regular marijuana user,s by their sheer numbers, demonstrate the positive aspects of cannabis culture in America strictly by living and working together with nontokers and one another without chaos and violence breaking out. This, all the while being persecuted and hunted like witches in Salem. The young couple in question are tragic casualties of the failing war on drugs and a stupid young man. People owe more money for utilities, but they are not shooting meter readers. If electricity were illegal, I am sure Mr. Goss would blame light bulbs as the cause of all the violence. To paraphrase pill-popping loud-mouthed conservatives, love Austin or leave it. We "hippies" moved here to get away from y'all so we could smoke in peace, and yet you follow with your condos and attitude. If we are so bad, why do you keep following? We like our Drugville better than your Empty High-Rise Town.
