Time to Bring Respect and Integrity Back to Talk Radio

RECEIVED Fri., July 24, 2009

Dear Editor,
Per Michael King's article last week "Point Austin: Stepping on Your Punchline" [News, July 24]. The repeated racist comments made by 590AM KLBJ News Radio talk-show host Don Pryor on his July 14 morning show were shameful.
Pryor is the latest casualty of an industry dominated by right-wing shock jocks, infotainment clowns, and wannabe Rush Limbaughs competing for attention. It's sad that these characters have listeners. You can change this. Advertisers, everyday listeners, and organizations should continue to push back on this foul behavior just like the Hispanic Contractors Association did last week. It's time to bring respect and integrity back to the talk-radio industry.
