Dear Editor,
Recently I have noticed a frightening trend in the pseudo-liberal inhabitants of Austin.
It seems anytime a journalist publicly slams something directly related to a progressive, green, or liberal stance or indirectly related to one of those aforementioned stances; the superprogressives take to the soap box and demand censorship, firing, and banning.
Personally, the straw that broke the camel’s back is the reaction elicited by Mr. Rosenblatt’s review of the film
Fuel [
Film Listings, Nov. 21]. The operative word is review; it is a report.
Thankfully, journalists still exercise their First Amendment duty, and kudos to the editorial staff of the
Chronicle for printing some of the scathing reactions, because that is what a free press does and has the responsibility to do – show both sides of the coin.
Ms. Baumgarten gave the film
There Will Be Blood 4½ stars [
Film Listings, Jan. 18] in the
Chronicle, and I have yet to see an oil company advertisement within its pages.
Before alternative fuel advocates of Austin sensationalize one bad film review, please look at the larger picture.
