'Happy Days Are Here Again'

RECEIVED Wed., Nov. 5, 2008

Dear Editor,
Whew! For all the folks that feel the same way, may I suggest finding a copy of the 1929 song "Happy Days Are Here Again" by Milton Ager (music) and Jack Yellen (lyrics). It was the campaign song for FDR and later adopted as the unofficial song of the Democratic Party. Obama's win is similar to Franklin D. Roosevelt's, in that the country needed a change of direction then, as well. With FDR's New Deal, the United States government went back to work for the people. Let's hope President-elect Obama will provide the same sort of change and opportunity.
    Happy days are here again.
The skies above are clear again,
So let's sing a song of cheer again.
    Happy days are here again.

    Altogether shout it now.
    There's no one
    Who can doubt it now,
So let's tell the world about it now.
    Happy days are here again.
